China Study Abroad: Summer, 2013
Two days after finals ended last Spring, thirteen chemical engineering students and I, along with two professors and our TA, flew from Houston to Beijing. We drove to nearby Tianjin, where we took two classes with local chemical and biological engineering students. I learned a great deal while in China, and not just from the two classes: Process Safety and Bioreactors. I built on my skill of adaptation in a similar way as I did when I moved to Charlotte, and I learned how to work on a team with some people that were very different than me, to say the least. I would like to highlight these two learning outcomes and give some specific examples of how I was challenged during the trip and how I will translate those lessons into success at the next level.
Below is my personal journal that I kept during the China trip. It gives a much more realistic viewpoint of the trip than what I could give now, looking back.
